Artist Statement 2008/2009

Through painting and drawing I seek to make visible that which is invisible.

 I question the viewer:
 Is all that we see with our eyes really all that exists?

To write honestly about my work, I find that I have to write honestly about myself, as my art and myself are intricately connected. Spirituality has always been a strong interest of mine (though I am not religious.)

 From a young age I have had metaphysical experiences, which became more and more frequent as I got older.

 Now the world of spirit is just as real to me as the physical world. Through my artistic practise I aim to express my experience of the constant current of spiritual energy that is present in life.

My practise of daily meditation has been a huge influence on my work and I have developed a practise of creating paintings and drawings while in a meditative state. This practise always results in artwork of a high frequency. I am presently creating Mandalas which are not only drawings, but tools for healing.
